Job Description

This position involves following clearly defined endoscopy procedures to assist physicians and healthcare providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of injuries or diseases. The role requires a strong integration of education, technical competency, and patient interaction skills to gain the confidence and cooperation of patients and their families.

The position supports departmental functionality by distributing supplies, ensuring equipment maintenance, decontamination, and preparing setups as necessary. All actions must adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety, ultimately delivering optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with biopsies and closing of the procedure room at the end of the day.
• Setting up and handling various endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies and EGDs.
• Operating endoscopy equipment such as endoscopes and colonoscopes.
• Performing high-level disinfection (HLD) and instrument processing and cleaning.
• Labeling and processing pathology specimens.
• Restocking procedure rooms and supply carts.
• Adhering to the Universal Protocol (Time out) procedures.

Qualifications

• Endoscopy Technician certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience in an endoscopy setting.
• Competence in operating diverse endoscopic instruments and cleaning procedures.

Patient Care Details

Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics

Daily Census: Approximately 45 patients

• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
