School Counselor

North Star Elementary School is currently seeking a school counselor. Job responsibilities include teaching guidance to grades 3-5 in daily unified arts rotation, assisting all students in the areas of academic achievement and social/emotional development, providing pull-out support to Tier II/III students in the area of social/emotional growth, serving as the 504 coordinator, assisting and teaching students how to manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills, providing short-term counseling and small group counseling to students, referring students for long-term support when appropriate, collaborating with families/teachers/administrators/community for student success, conducting data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges within the school, participating in school and district committees and initiatives to provide system support, assisting with crisis management, developing and following an effective school counseling program and annual plan, consistent with the school, district and ASCA mission and vision, attending district counselor meetings, upholding ASCA ethical and professional standards, being a team player, an excellent communicator, and having a willingness to work strategically with parents of all students, fulfilling continuing education requirements, and other responsibilities as determined by the school principal.

Minimum qualifications: school counselor for grades K-5, current DE teaching license.
