Overview Critical Care Transport – LifeFlight’s Critical Care team provides advanced pre‑hospital and inter‑facility patient care for critically ill patients. The team includes an EMT/AEMT, a Critical Care Paramedic, and a Critical Care Nurse. Our ground ambulance is equipped for advanced therapies including ventilatory support, vascular access, and monitoring. Position Summary The Critical Care Paramedic provides high‑quality, continuous care from initial contact until hand‑off to the accepting facility. Clinical competence, documentation, and teamwork are essential. The role requires participation in improvement activities, safety communications, and customer service for internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Collaborate with the critical care nurse to plan, coordinate, and implement care during transport. Analyze patient history and transport logistics to establish goals and manage risks. Continuously reassess patient status, applying appropriate interventions to achieve treatment objectives. Promote a safe clinical environment and adhere to LifeFlight protocols. Use medical control when necessary and document all interventions accurately. Technical Capabilities Medication Management – master advanced medication administration and assessment of side‑effects. Assessment, Intervention & Stabilization – independently assess and manage critical patients. Airway Management – establish and maintain advanced airway techniques. Critical Thinking – evaluate assumptions, apply evidence‑based reasoning, and adapt to changing scenarios. Ventilator Management – manage ventilatory support devices. Technology Utilization – use EMR, GPS, protocols, and inventory systems effectively. Clinical Competency – maintain proficiency in regulatory and accreditation standards. Continuous Improvement – participate in self‑assessment and program improvement projects. Documentation – produce accurate records that meet LifeFlight standards. Qualifications – Required High School Diploma or GED TN Critical Care Paramedic License (CCP) Valid driver’s license from state of residence Qualifications – Preferred 3+ years Critical Care Paramedic experience or 5+ years Paramedic experience in a high‑volume 911 system Previous Critical Care Transport experience NREMT certification Additional licenses: Kentucky Critical Care Paramedic, Advanced certifications (CCP‑C, PHTLS, etc.) Completed courses: EVOC, VFK, NIMS IS‑100/200/700/800, Difficult Airway, S.T.A.B.L.E.
