Job Title: Pathologists Assistant Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Pathologists Assistant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: - Minimum of 2 years of experience required - Graduate of an accredited Pathologists' Assistant Master's Program required License: - ASCP - PA certification required Certifications: - ASCP - PA Must-Have: - Academic medical center experience preferred Description: Two years of experience is required. A graduate of an accredited Pathologists' Assistant Master's Program is necessary. ASCP - PA certification is required. Academic medical center experience is preferred. Skills required include: - Cutting and staining frozen sections - Electron microscopy - Macroscopic description of gross anatomic features - Obtaining biological samples for flow cytometry - Obtaining biological samples for immunohistochemistry - Obtaining and reviewing patient clinical information, such as scans, X-rays, and lab results - Performing gross examination and dissection of large and complex specimens - Performing gross examination and dissection of small biopsies - Preparing tissues for histological processing - Sectioning surgical pathology specimens - Specimen fixation - Specimen receipt and labeling Candidates living within 70 miles of the facility will not be considered. Travelers may need to complete a respiratory clearance prior to starting. Travelers must be clean-shaven for fit testing. Failure to comply with fit testing requirements may result in cancellation. All travel clinicians cannot work as travelers past one year and must take a six-month break before returning. Modules will vary in length and are not billable.
