Project Engineering Manager

Title: Project Engineering ManagerLocation: Onsite 2 days/week after 90 day training period in Glendale, AZIndustry: Water/WastewaterExperience: Looking for someone with strong project management experience + utility or water/wastewater and engineering backgroundPosition OverviewWe are seeking a results-oriented Project Engineering Manager to lead the planning, delivery and execution of engineering projects. The role is focused on applying strong project management practices to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage schedules and budgets, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality technical solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements. Experience with water and wastewater projects and an engineering background are desirable but not required.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage engineering project delivery from initiation through close-out, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and resource plans; track progress and implement corrective actions when needed.Coordinate and collaborate with internal engineering teams, contractors, clients and external stakeholders to define requirements and resolve issues.Oversee technical design reviews, ensuring engineering solutions meet quality, safety and regulatory standards.Manage contract administration, change orders, procurement activities and vendor relationships.Identify, assess and mitigate project risks; implement contingency plans and maintain project documentation.Provide leadership, mentorship and performance feedback to engineering and project staff; foster a culture of continuous improvement.Ensure effective communication across project teams and with clients, including regular reporting and presentations on project status, risks and financials.Conduct site visits and field oversight as required to validate progress and ensure work conforms to design and safety requirements.Drive process improvements and implement best practices in project management and engineering delivery.QualificationsDemonstrated project management experience (required), including planning, scheduling, budgeting and risk management for engineering projects.Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline preferred but not required.5+ years of experience managing engineering projects, with progressive responsibility; experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification preferred.Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to influence and lead teams across functions.Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and Microsoft Office suite.Solid understanding of contract administration, procurement processes and construction management.Experience with water and wastewater systems is a plus (nice to have).Engineering hands-on experience or background is a plus (nice to have).Ability to travel to project sites and work effectively in both office and field environments.BenefitsGenerous 401kFull medical, dental, vision etc. (great benefits! - very affordable!)3 weeks PTO, 10 sick days, 5 personal days, 12 company holidays + 1 Friday off/monthGreat culture, yearly raises, great team10% bonus
