Workers' Compensation AttorneyPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Workers' Compensation Attorney to join our defense team. The attorney will manage a varied caseload defending employers and insurers in workers' compensation claims, representing clients at administrative hearings and in civil litigation when necessary. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of workers' compensation law with strong litigation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to draft persuasive motions, briefs, and pleadings.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a full caseload of workers' compensation matters from intake through resolution, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.Prepare and file pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and other court and administrative documents.Represent clients at administrative hearings, depositions, mediations, and, where necessary, civil trials; advocate effectively before judges and hearing officers.Conduct factual and legal research; analyze medical records, employment documents, and expert opinions to develop defense strategies.Draft settlement agreements and negotiate favorable outcomes with claimants, opposing counsel, and insurers.Advise clients (employers and insurers) on exposure, strategy, litigation risks, and potential resolutions; prepare client memos and status reports.Collaborate with claims adjusters, medical experts, vocational experts, and outside counsel to build cases and prepare trial exhibits.Ensure compliance with applicable statutes, rules, deadlines, and internal procedures; maintain accurate case files and billing records.Supervise, mentor, and delegate tasks to junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff as needed.Participate in continuing education and stay current on changes in workers' compensation and related civil litigation law.QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the state bar.3+ years of experience handling workers' compensation claims, preferably defending employers and/or insurers; experience in civil litigation a plus.Proven litigation experience, including conducting hearings, depositions, and trials; strong track record drafting motions, briefs, and pleadings.Demonstrated proficiency in workers' compensation law, defense strategy, and case management.Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills; ability to present complex information clearly to clients and decision-makers.Strong research and analytical abilities; comfortable reviewing medical records and technical reports.Skilled negotiator with the ability to achieve pragmatic resolutions while protecting client interests.Familiarity with case management and e-filing systems; aptitude for organizing and managing a high-volume caseload.Professional demeanor, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with claims adjusters and expert witnesses.Willingness to travel locally for hearings and depositions as required; valid driver's license and reliable transportation.Benefits" Medical" Dental" Life and Disability" 401K" Profit Sharing" Bonuses" Paid Vacation
