Title : Physical Therapy Receptionist/Materials Management Clerk

Department : Rehab Services

Status : Full-time schedule: 32 hours per week, including two 12-hour shifts on Thursday and Friday (6:45am – 7:15pm) and one 8-hour day shift per week in Materials Management.

Job summary:  

Schedules and registers patients in computer system; answers telephone promptly and courteously; obtains and verifies patient and guarantor demographic information; obtains and verifies patient’s insurance information including co-pays; enters charges and coding information using appropriate CPT and ICD-10 reference books; completes forms as appropriate; receives and answers charge/billing related inquiries. Provides clerical, secretarial and receptionist support for the clinic and other diverse duties as requested or required including assisting physical, occupational or speech therapist with direct patient care. Assists with the receiving, storage and delivery of materials and supplies. Pulls items from stock or special-order items to fill requisitions and delivers goods to the requesting hospital department. Assists with various other responsibilities assigned in the Materials Management Department.

Qualifications/Position Requirements:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Previous experience in Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy or related health care field preferred.
3. Previous experience working with general public required.
4. Current BLS required. 
5. Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians and all other support hospital & external personnel
6. Influences the direction of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy services by maintaining a positive perspective/attitude.
7. Ability to promote and adapt to change in order to keep current with Physical Therapy.
8. Ability to apply the principals of quality physical, occupational and speech therapy care as directed.
9. Ability to follow directions accurately.
10. Evidence of a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty and a positive attitude.
11. Knowledge or ability to learn the safe use of various P.T., O.T. and SLP equipment including therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot/cold packs and various exercise equipment, etc..
