Through grantmaking, leadership development, values and mission-aligned investing, the Foundation seeks to strengthen the creative economy, support nonprofit organizations, and center arts and culture as a key ingredient to a thriving community.As a member of a small, collaborative team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for all financial management, investments, accounting, reporting, compliance and risk management. Reporting to the President & CEO, the CFO is the Foundation's principal steward of financial resources and partners with the Board of Trustees to fulfill the Foundation's fiduciary responsibilities, ensuring all assets are managed with integrity, transparency and a long-term perspective that advances both financial sustainability and supports the Foundation's mission and values.The CFO will work closely with the Investment Committee and external advisors to oversee the Foundation's endowment and advance our commitment to values and mission-aligned investing, achieving strong relative risk-adjusted returns while ensuring alignment with the Foundation's mission, vision and values.ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management:Financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and cash managementAccounting operations and financial reportingPrepare financial and investment materials for board meetingsTax compliance, including private foundation reporting requirementsDesign and assessment of financial strategy and performance, managing the annual budget and long-term goals in support of the Foundation's mission and objectivesAudit coordination and oversightInternal controls and financial policiesPartner with the CEO and Board to provide thoughtful analysis and recommendations that support informed decision-makingSupport program officers in development of new programs and review of existing grants and programs and technical assistance to grantee organizations when requestedImpact and Mission-Aligned InvestingSupport to the Investment Committee and Board of TrusteesCoordinate relationships with investment advisors and mission-aligned investments and identify and screen potential investmentsMonitor portfolio performance, liquidity, and capital commitmentsSupport implementation and ongoing monitoring of Foundation's mission-aligned investment strategyAssist in the development and review of policies and practicesEnsure timely and accurate investment reporting and analysisRisk ManagementPartner with the CEO and Board to identify emerging risks and ensure the Foundation's financial infrastructure supports operational efficiency, effectiveness and promotes compliance with laws and regulations.Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing Private FoundationsCollaborate with legal counsel Board and CEO to address compliance issuesEnsure appropriate insurance coverageVendor and contract administrationEnsure corporate records and minutes are accurate and in compliance with relevant statutes and regulationsUphold ethical standards in all financial decisions and activitiesOperations and AdministrationSupervise Finance and Programs AssociateGeneral support of Foundation operations and administrationSupport CEO in development of employee policies and compliance with appropriate lawsCompensation and benefits benchmarkingManage relationship with PEO and benefit providers and manage annual contractingSpecial projects as neededQualities we are looking for:Financial acumen and an ability to explain financial issues and concepts and collaborate with grantees and programmatic colleagues that do not have finance backgrounds.Strategic and systems thinking.Strong written, verbal and analytical skills to support and enable sound and strategic decision making.Ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.Integrity and accountability, discretion with confidential information.Commitment to learning and collaboration.Alignment with the Foundation's values and commitment to equity.Qualifications:Minimum of a B.A in accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent experience, MBA, CPA, or other relevant certification a plusExercise discretion with sensitive informationAbility to set priorities and manage multiple assignments and deadlinesTechnology savvy, proficiency with current and emerging technology including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint) QuickBooks and/or other accounting systems, Bill.com or other payment systems, other programs and system integrationsExperience working with of nonprofit and private foundation accounting and rules and regulationsCommitment to diversity and inclusivenessBenefitsBonfils-Stanton offers competitive compensation and benefits, including a 401k plan with a Foundation contribution, generous paid time off, a robust benefits plan, professional development opportunities, and a paid sabbatical after seven years of service.
