Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Float Pool Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: All travelers must take and pass a cardiac rhythm exam. Experience with common diagnoses including CHF, cardiac catheterization, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedic cases, and oncology is preferred. RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry strips but will not need to titrate drips. Description: This position involves working in a flexible float pool setting. Nurses will primarily float to various medical-surgical and telemetry units. The average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6, with potential for 7 patients during peak times. Charge nurses are available on each unit, and day charge nurses do not take patient assignments. Certified nursing assistants are present to assist with patient care tasks. Respiratory therapy is managed by designated staff, while nurses utilize CPAP and BiPap equipment. All staff will be scheduled for weekend shifts on an every-other-weekend basis. Travelers are integrated into the holiday rotation schedule. Shift schedules are typically made 4-6 weeks in advance. Appropriate scrub attire is required, specifically in royal blue. Travelers will undergo 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor for unit acclimatization. This role entails ensuring a high standard of patient care while floating to various units as needed.
