Position Summary

The Villa at Marymount is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support residents in our specialized 10-bed Ventilator Unit . This role is ideal for a clinician experienced in the management of mechanical ventilation, complex airways, and high-acuity respiratory care within a postacute or long-term care setting.

The Respiratory Therapist will work closely with nursing, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate respiratory care.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators , including initiation, adjustments, troubleshooting, and alarm management
• Provide care for residents with tracheostomies and complex airway devices
• Perform respiratory assessments and evaluate patient response to ventilator settings and respiratory therapies
• Administer respiratory treatments such as aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance interventions
• Assist with ventilator weaning protocols as ordered by physicians
• Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and clinical leadership on resident care plans
• Respond promptly to respiratory distress or equipment-related emergencies
• Ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks of respiratory equipment
• Accurately document assessments, treatments, and ventilator data per policy and regulatory standards
• Educate residents, families, and staff on respiratory care as appropriate

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Active Respiratory Therapist license (state-specific)
• RRT or CRT credential (RRT preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with:
  • Mechanical ventilators
  • Tracheostomy care
  • High-acuity or ventilator-dependent patients
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred or willingness to obtain)
• Experience in:
  • Ventilator units
  • Subacute, long-term acute care (LTACH), ICU, or step-down units
• Familiarity with chronic ventilator management and medically complex populations
