Advanced Clinical Technician - Mentor

Demonstrates CARES values of Customer Service, Accountability, Relationships, Excellence and Safety.Standards of Performance: Working with Trainees:Successfully completes the CDC orientation class for "Training the Adult Learner"Assesses the trainee's learning needs and provides appropriate educational opportunitiesPlans and monitors an individual's orientation in conjunction with Education DepartmentDocuments the trainee's progress via the required orientation paperwork, anecdotal notes and/or emailProvides feedback to the trainee via daily verbal and/or written progress reportsMeets weekly with trainee and Facility Manager to review performance using constructive criticismFacilitates the trainee's socialization to the workplaceDemonstrates knowledge of all CDC policies and procedures; teaches trainee to consistently follow all CDC policies and proceduresActs as a clinical resource to trainee and other staff membersFacilitates a good relationship between trainees and patientsFollows patient schedule to allow adequate time for training and orientee developmentDemonstrates ability to remain focused on, and attentive to, trainee through each training sessionAttends bi-annual meetings offered through the Education DepartmentPerformance Expectations:Performs all duties of the Dialysis Technician (see Dialysis Technician job description)Demonstrates knowledge of the water room and SDS policies and procedures, and able to troubleshoot and intervene, if necessaryCollaborates with charge RN to ensure tasks are completedActs as a clinical resource to the staff and an expert resource for patient care policies and proceduresAttends and provides education to staffIs an active member of a facility-based initiative and exhibits leadership within that groupDocuments all patient data obtained while providing care, along with patient's response, in a complete, accurate and timely fashionDemonstrates a positive attitude in all interactions. Assists with BONENT preparation for new Dialysis TechniciansContinually reviews policies and procedures and communicates changes/updates, as neededProvides a designated staff in-service, as neededActs in a leadership role with emergency drills as scheduled, ER take off, pyrogen reaction, mock CPRDemonstrates active participation on facility team, completes projects timely and professionallyAccepts additional duties, as neededEducation, Experience Training and Licenses/Registrations:OCDT CertificationMinimum of two (2) years patient care experience required with at least one (1) year at CDC preferredSuccessful completion of ACT pre-assessmentExcellent clinical, technical and interpersonal skills as demonstrated by having achieved a rating of "meets or exceeds expectations" on the most recent performance evaluationMust be in, and maintain, "good standing" status for performance and attendanceAbility to communicate effectively and professionally with management, coworkers, and patientsAbility to make decisions independentlyAbility to organize time and priorities in order to meet various deadlinesStarting Salary is between $21.00 - $30.00 per hour (DOQ)Environmental Demands: Employee must have the ability to: push, pull, carry and lift objects up to 50 pounds. Additionally, incumbent must be able to sit, stand, kneel and walk for prolonged periods. Employee will be exposed to chemicals, bodily fluids, noise, vibration, and other business-related conditions. He/she will be required to use Personal Protective Equipment and office equipment as required by the position.
