Job summary
Freedom Engineering Supply is hiring a reliable, hands-on Mobile Service Truck Mechanic to join our team based out of Temple, Texas. You will dispatch directly from our shop to perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and light repairs on heavy equipment and industrial machinery across Central Texas.
Unlike shop-only roles, this position focuses on field maintenance, troubleshooting, and keeping customer equipment running without getting bogged down in major component rebuilds.
Key responsibilities
• Field diagnostics and repairs: perform solid B-level diagnostic testing and mechanical repairs on diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics
• Hydraulic and industrial maintenance: troubleshoot hydraulic issues and fabricate hydraulic hoses directly in the field (experience is a strong plus)
• Preventive maintenance: routine checks, basic servicing, and light repairs to prevent unexpected downtime
• Independent problem solving: manage service calls efficiently while working out of a mobile service unit
• Customer and job communication: keep dispatch and customers informed on repair status and needs
Qualifications and requirements
• Proven experience as a heavy equipment, diesel, or industrial mechanic (B-level capability preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
• Field hydraulic hose fabrication experience is a major plus
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• CDL is a plus, not mandatory
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively on the road
• Bilingual English and Spanish a plus
Schedule and compensation
• Schedule: standard day shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional night and weekend work on an on-call or requested basis
• Pay: competitive, experience-based hourly pay with overtime eligibility after 10 hours daily, plus extra compensation for after-hours emergency calls
