Controls Specialist Automation Tech (Nights)

Your mission is to support manufacturing automation equipment as a Controls Specialist Automation Technician, providing general controls, programming, instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical support. This role requires competency in troubleshooting, analysis, and repair of automated mechanical and electrical equipment. You will collaborate with engineering, management, maintenance, production, sanitation, and quality assurance teams. Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facilities. Share knowledge of automation, controls, and PLC concepts with maintenance personnel. Troubleshoot and repair facility electrical equipment (single phase, three phase, and DC circuits). Perform duties with minimal supervision and assist in writing and revising maintenance SOPs. Work with process control and power distribution; interpret mechanical and electrical manuals, schematics, and P&ID documents. Provide operating instructions and training on production line equipment to facility personnel. Perform preventive maintenance tasks and report results. Generate reports and documents (shift summaries, test results, project write-ups, etc.). Troubleshoot control systems (PLC, servo controllers, operator interfaces, VFDs) and maintain field instrumentation (pressure transmitters, RTDs, load cells, etc.). Assist in spare parts specification and participate in special projects as assigned. Observe safety requirements and maintain a clean, safe work area compliant with OSHA, FDA, and Food Plant regulations. Communicate effectively with outside vendors and equipment manufacturers; maintain proactive maintenance practices. Utilize maintenance management systems and ensure production equipment is ready for subsequent shifts. Proficiently use Microsoft Office tools; perform non-technical tasks as requested by management. Qualifications Strong programming skills with hardware/software including Wonderware; AB Control Logix, AB PLC 5000 series; AB PanelView; AB Indramat Servco Controllers; Ethernet & DeviceNet; UNIX/Windows OS; Kinetix servo control; trouble-shooting; and related software/hardware. Experience with PanelView and ME software and vision systems. At least six (6) years of industrial maintenance experience or advanced education in automation controls, PLC, programming, electrical, mechanical, and electronics. Must obtain the minimum assessment level for Maintenance Technician III as established by the maintenance department.
