The successful candidate will have experience analyzing and designing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structural systems. As part of multidisciplinary project teams, this individual will prepare structural calculations and construction documents, coordinate designs across disciplines, and support projects throughout design and construction.

This role offers the opportunity to expand technical expertise and professional judgment while taking greater ownership of project coordination and deliverables. Working closely with senior engineers and Project Managers, the Project Engineer will participate in project meetings, support construction administration activities, and progressively assume greater project responsibility.

Structural Engineering & Project Experience

FPA’s Structural Engineering Department provides structural analysis and design services for commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential building projects.

The Project Engineer - Structural will apply sound technical judgment to increasingly complex assignments while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams and clients. This role requires knowledge of applicable building codes and structural design practices, along with a commitment to high-quality project delivery and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, and delivery of structural engineering projects for commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential buildings.

• Assist in the design and analysis of structural systems including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.

• Prepare structural calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and related documentation.

• Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other disciplines.

• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with senior engineers and project managers.

• Support construction administration activities, including shop drawing review, RFIs, and field observations.

• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, standards, and project requirements.

• Contribute to maintaining high-quality project delivery and client satisfaction.

• Engage in mentorship and professional development opportunities, progressively taking on greater project responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree is a plus).

• 5 years of structural engineering experience in a consulting environment.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New Jersey required.

• Working knowledge of building codes and structural analysis/design software.

• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.

• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Benefits

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement plans. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, education, qualifications, and skill set. FPA recognizes and rewards performance through an annual bonus program.
