Patient Care AssociateUnder the immediate supervision of the department manager, Radiation Oncologists, and RNs in Radiation Oncology department the Patient Care Associate assists the physician and nurses in the complete care of the therapy patient and carries out nursing duties as prescribed by the physicians. The Patient Care Associate promotes a positive attitude to ensure a high level of care. The Associate runs errands and transports patients when necessary; they assist the patients from wheelchairs into exam rooms as needed.Minimum RequirementsEducationGraduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy ProgramLicense/Registration/CertificationsCurrent ARRT certification in Radiation TherapyLicense through SCQRSAPreferred RequirementsPreferred Experience1 year in a progressive radiation oncology departmentPreferred License/Registration/CertificationsMember of the ASRTMember of the SCSRTCore Job ResponsibilitiesMust be able to withstand the stress and demands of an active positionMust be able to withstand many long hours of standing, walking, stooping, bending and sittingMust be able to lift or move patients and equipment as neededMust be able to read, write, and speak English fluentlyManual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination and adequate vision needed in daily operation of high-tech equipmentMust be able to respond calmly and efficiently in a crisis situationMust be able to lead and direct work of others to insure organization and accuracy in all areasMust be able work as team member with peers, departmental staff, as well as other hospital staffWork independently and be on call after hours as assigned
