Commercial Electrician
This role focuses on commercial renovation and new construction projects, where you install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems for power, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. You work from plans and prints provided by the general contractor, using a variety of tools and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and code-compliant installations on commercial job sites.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for commercial renovation and new construction projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and prints provided by the general contractor to determine layout and routing of conduit and wiring.
- Rough in conduit and bend pipe to specified measurements and configurations based on project drawings.
- Pull, route, and terminate electrical wiring for power, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
- Wire and connect instruments, panels, and devices that control power, lighting, and mechanical equipment in commercial buildings.
- Use power tools, test meters, pipe threaders, and conduit benders to complete installations safely and efficiently.
- Verify continuity, proper operation, and safety of electrical circuits and systems using appropriate testing equipment.
- Follow OSHA safety standards and job site safety procedures at all times.
- Collaborate with a small crew to plan daily tasks, coordinate work sequences, and meet project deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools and equipment remain in good working condition.
- Document work performed as required and communicate progress and issues to site leadership.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of electrical experience in commercial construction environments.
- Valid electrical license appropriate for commercial work in the jurisdiction.
- Proficiency in conduit installation, including bending, threading, and routing.
- Strong experience in pulling, routing, and terminating electrical wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and electrical schematics.
- Hands-on experience installing and wiring power, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
- Skilled in using power tools, test meters, pipe threaders, and conduit benders.
- OSHA 10 certification or equivalent knowledge of construction safety practices.
- Ability to run wire and complete rough-in and finish work on commercial projects.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical codes and standards.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small crew and follow direction from project leadership.
- Reliable work habits, including punctuality and consistent attendance on a Monday–Friday schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on commercial renovation projects as well as new construction.
- Comfort working from plans and prints provided by general contractors on a variety of project types.
- Prior experience on small crews of 2–3 electricians, including taking initiative in planning daily tasks.
- Interest in developing into foreman or leadership roles as opportunities arise.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues in the field.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with general contractors and other trades on site.

Work Environment
You work in small crews of 2–3 electricians on commercial renovation and new construction projects in and around Syracuse. The schedule follows a first-shift pattern, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a predictable daytime work routine. All projects are local to the Syracuse area, reducing extensive travel and allowing you to return home daily. On site, you regularly use power tools, test meters, pipe threaders, and conduit benders, and you follow OSHA safety practices throughout each project. The environment emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and safe work habits while maintaining a professional yet close-knit, family-oriented shop culture.

This is a Permanent position based out of Syracuse, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
