Company: Cox Automotive – Cox Fleet, a division of Cox Automotive, specializes in on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers across the U.S. Job Overview Mobile Diesel Technician LevelII – DOT Management Level, Individual Contributor. Flexible work option: can work remotely but must reside in the specified city, state or region. Travel: 100% of the time. Work shift: variable. Compensation Hourly base pay $29.42 – $44.13. Additional compensation may include commission‑based or incentive programs. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Minor adjustment and repairs on truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, air‑conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives. Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device and the TRAIT application, uploading photos of work performed and parts used. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner. Work independently, managing your own daily schedule and maintaining high productivity within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair approvals, purchase order numbers, and RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or equivalent education/experience). Must possess a set of hand tools required for job duties. Must obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Must pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical, or provide a valid DOT medical card with at least four months remaining. Must be at least 21 years old. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Must hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
