Interim Manager, RN, CVOR

Description The Manager has 24‑hour accountability for the effective and efficient operation of one or more related units. The manager spends 20% of the time in direct staff supervision and 80% in administrative duties. Employment Type Full time Shift Days; Mon‑Fri; no weekends. Responsibilities Makes decisions that affect the unit and coordinates with departmental leadership. Provides quality and patient safety oversight. Maintains hiring and retention of staff; educates staff on organizational goals, patient safety, quality of care, and regulatory requirements; collaborates with physicians to achieve throughput metrics. Conducts unit staff meetings and collaborates with the Director. Participates in LEAN activities, interdisciplinary leadership, and budget planning. Scores and reflects on patient safety, quality, patient loyalty, associate engagement and physician satisfaction. Develops and supports employees at all levels in a supportive atmosphere. Guides staff through change and uses motivational dynamics to maintain productivity and morale. Attends committee meetings as required. Quality Management Establishes and monitors indicators for quality outcomes. Collaborates with physicians and quality coordinators to review outcomes and establish targets. Performance Management Oversees employee performance review process, supports peer review, ensures competency of staff, addresses learning needs, and provides training and skill development. Financial Management Establishes master staffing, monitors trends, recommends staffing adjustments, submits data and rationale, monitors hours worked, controls salary and non‑salary budgets, participates in budget process, makes recommendations for new programs or changes, develops payroll, revenue and expense budgets, anticipates variances, projects capital equipment needs, interprets budget to staff, and sets cost‑containment expectations. Physical Demands Must be able to stand, sit and walk for long periods. Requires manual dexterity and visual/auditory acuity for patient care devices and computer use. Patient Sensitivity Supervises staff who provide care to patients. Education Requirements Graduation from a recognized nursing program, current New York State license, bachelor’s in nursing, 3 years of relevant nursing experience with documented leadership ability. Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, C‑EFM. Technical Knowledge Broad base of knowledge related to clinical specialization, human resources, fiscal management, customer relations, and performance improvement techniques. Problem Solving Responsible for decision making within assigned accountability; works with internal and external customers to solve problems; communicates updates to the Director. Internal/External Contacts Standardizes and develops policies; moderate formal and informal marketing including public presentations as needed. Planning Highly responsible position influencing patient outcomes, staff effectiveness, customer relations, fiscal outcomes, and overall reputation.
