Udac Inc., Non-Exempt Job DescriptionTitle: Career and Life Coach
Reports to: Assigned Manager
Position Description : Works with individuals or a specific individual to plan and implement meaningful community activities that promote knowledge, develop skills, and provide experiences to choose among possibilities. Must be able to facilitate and implement individual and/or team strategies that maintain or promote competitive integrated employment, meaningful community inclusion and facilitate Person Centered support. The Career and Life Coach will be responsible to support adults with disabilities of all ages and others who need assistance to lead self-directed lives and contribute to their communities; and supports behaviors that enhance inclusion, develop social roles, and build social capital in their communities. The Career and Life Coach shall understand that people requiring support may have co-occurring disorders: mental illness, substance abuse disorder, cognitive disability, or a medical condition. These conditions are called co-occurring disorders. The Career and Life Coach shall promote Udac's welcoming and effective provision of support to all people served.
Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in human services related field preferred. Experience or interest in working with adults with disabilities. Possess a valid driver's license and MVR which passes Udac driving standards. Qualified to work with vulnerable adults by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The Career and Life Coach shall have or achieve and maintain First Aid/CPR certification, Mental Health Support Specialist (MHSS) and/or Direct Support Professional Certification.
(DSP) Career and Life Coach Associate
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- Primarily assigned to assist in supervising, teaching, and coaching one individual or individuals with specific learning, social and emotional disabilities
- Able to collaborate with multidisciplinary staff, parents, and personnel from other agencies and is prepared with observations and a plan to address challenges they are encountering with clients, families, teams, transportation, etc.
- Able to manage conflict, disruptive and unpredictable behaviors while de-escalating situations.
- Able to redirect and engage an individual(s) in appropriate activities.
- Able to accommodate routine and flexible schedules of the individual supported.
Essential Functions :
- Provide input into the strategy and implementation of individual personal outcomes and assist in developing individualized tools to support the client's independence in the job.
- Implement behavior plans, therapeutic protocols, and any other written plans or procedures for individuals under our supervision.
- Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent information for everyone assigned.
- Interacts professionally and effectively and has a good rapport with supervisors, co-workers, caregivers, guardians, families, case managers, and businesses.
- Exercises initiative and independence in generating and monitoring their work, recognizes opportunities to assist clients to gain independence.
- Meets deadlines and complete the required hours of training each year.
- Working knowledge of electronic documentation using various methods: tablet, computer, phone, etc. and is accountable for collection and accurate data in their documentation.
- Is responsible for their professional development and advancing knowledge in the field of Human Services and other areas of needed growth.
- Is well respected by Administration and Career and Life Coaches for their contributions to Udac.
- Accepts additional work-related duties as requested and deemed necessary by the administration.
- Is able to be independent in community work. Keeps supervisor informed of employer, client and/or team communication.
Relationships with Individuals Udac Supports :
- Interact with individuals in a manner that reflects dignity and respect.
- Respond appropriately to individual behaviors, medical emergencies, and other situations.
- Communicate and interacts effectively and in a manner that reflects dignity and respect with individuals Udac supports and members of their teams, families and guardians, employers and other relevant personnel using appropriate communication techniques and team support systems as appropriate.
- Support multiple individuals in the attainment of personal outcomes through training, supervision, modeling, coaching, and other appropriate methods.
Agency Support :
- Consistently models the Mission, Vision, and Values of Udac. Demonstrates compliance with Udac's policies and procedures as stated in the Udac, Inc. Employee Handbook and Policy Manual.
- Professional in all work interactions.
Attendance:
- Reports to work in a reliable and dependable manner.
- Schedules personal appointments and other activities outside work hours when possible.
- Works other than regularly scheduled to complete projects, meet individual needs, or accommodate Udac business needs.
Physical
- Able to physically assist individuals who use specialized motored or non-motored equipment, may include assistance with transfers, assistance with outdoor terrain and repetitive movements.
- Lift to 50 pounds and safely move bulk products. Bend, pull, and lift repeatedly
Throughout the workday.
- Repetitively twist, turn, & bend, stand & walk for an extended period
- Work outside in adverse conditions, including temperature extremes and inclement conditions.
(DSP) Career and Life Coach Instructor

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- Demonstrates knowledge and the ability to apply concepts of competitive integrated employment, meaningful community inclusion, person centered support of neuro-diverse and mental health management with clients.
- Able to independently develop a plan to advance community inclusion for work and civic life.
- Able to independently assess a job and breakdown the components for clients to Successfully advance autonomy.
- Demonstrates the ability to develope assessment skills that are demonstrated through documentation and job plan development
- Able to independently manage most client community and job situations with teams while keeping the manager informed.
- Is independent in developing an incrementally advancing client program for independence.
- Is independent with managing team interactions - 6-month meetings and annual meetings as assigned.
- Effectively works with individuals to implement personal outcomes using their Person-Centered Plan. Assesses outcomes and makes recommendations to the team as determined in their CSSP.
- Communicates directly with employers and plans changes in work and helps client advocate for new opportunities.
- Demonstrates the ability to mentor new employees.
- Facilitates Case Review at the all-staff meeting. Is able to mentor others skills and share knowledge.
- Develops and implements a plan to minimize disruption for client when Career and Life Coaches change.
- Is flexible and adaptable to changing client needs and organizational roles.
- Demonstrates increased knowledge of neurodiverse adults.
- Understands 245d rules and regulations and can independently use the knowledge to develop Person Centered Plans, CSSP and other needed forms.
- Demonstrates the ability to develope a plan for professional advancement in field of Human Services and other areas of needed growth.
- Accepts additional work-related duties as requested and deemed necessary by the administration.
Career and Life Coach Practitioner

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- Has the ability to apply, learn, understand, and implement licensing standards for the Minnesota Department of Human Services and Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
- Acts as a liaison between Udac, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Lead agencies and the business community at large.
- Determine individual goals and develops and implements successful strategies for individuals served to maximize independence and advance skills in competitive integrated employment, meaningful community life, living arrangements and employment to work toward identified outcomes
- Able to advocate, assess, identify, develop, and secure customized employment opportunities and placement in integrated community settings to help individuals achieve their individual and career outcomes.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with colleagues and the Udac leadership team to effectively develop and implement successful programs that advance organizational strategies and develop personnel competencies.
- Communicates clearly with personnel, individuals served, employers, families, and guardians and the business community to ensure Udac program success. Incorporates feedback from stakeholders for program improvement.
- Uses project management strategies and skills to design, implement and monitor programs and improve processes to meet deadlines effectively. Meets deadlines.
- Develops and maintains expertise in the field of Human Services and is viewed as an industry expert in the field. Is responsible for their own professional development and advancing knowledge.
- Assesses the Duluth Community to identify program opportunities and vulnerabilities in developing community integration and inclusive worksite issues to meet the needs and outcomes of individuals of all abilities.
- May serve as the designated coordinator for licensing as designated.
- Is well respected by Administration and Career and Life Coaches for their contributions to Udac.
- Demonstrates Critical thinking skills in problem-solving challenges and opportunities and effective communication skills; written, verbal and nonverbal.
- Works other than regularly scheduled to complete projects, meet individual needs, or accommodate Udac business needs.

Exemption Status: non- Exempt Position
Compensation Detail: Hourly Wage. Education, experience, level of responsibility, along with internal equity may be considered. $20.00-$25.00

Schedule: Full or part-time (or as determined)
Schedule details: Shifts vary - may require some evenings, weekends and holidays based on external business demands.
Weekend schedule: As needed.
