Registered Nurse (RN) – Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Location: Sylmar, CA
Schedule: 4x10-hour shifts
Shift: Days
NuWest Healthcare is seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality post-anesthesia care in a fast-paced surgical environment. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills, excellent assessment abilities, and experience caring for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.
- Perform thorough post-anesthesia assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition.
- Closely monitor vital signs, airway, respiratory status, pain, and level of consciousness.
- Recognize and respond quickly to post-operative complications and emergencies.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and other treatments as ordered.
- Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and other common recovery needs.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, physicians, and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Provide patient and family education regarding recovery, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Ensure patients meet appropriate discharge criteria and safely transition to the next level of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and facility policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Active California RN license .
- Current BLS certification .
- Previous PACU or critical care experience strongly preferred.
- Strong post-anesthesia assessment and patient monitoring skills.
- Experience managing airways, pain, and post-operative complications.
- Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
