ResponsibilitiesCost Accountant I Position Summary/ Primary Purpose Reporting to the Manager of Cost Accounting, as a part of a cross functional Team, this person supports forecasting, cost and project accounting responsibilities.Major Areas of Responsibility Daily processing of contract orders and changesMonthly review and forecasting of less complex projects and other short cycle ordersMaintain project budgets and revenue recognition in ERP systemsEnsure compliance with accounting policies and procedures (JSOX)Testing and implementation of special projects as requiredContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Meet regularly with Operations personnel to gage project financial performancePublish various managerial accounting reportsProcess improvement Basic Broad Knowledge English Language Basic knowledge of cost and US GAAP accounting principlesIntermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel)Basic Skills & Abilities Time Management Critical Thinking - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Analytical ability as it pertains to understanding and explaining manufacturing variances as well as other types of analysis. Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.Monitoring - monitoring/assessing performance of you, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.QualificationsBasic Skills & Abilities Verbal and Written Expression and Recognition - the ability to listen to, understand and communicate information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.Information Ordering — the ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).Problem Sensitivity — the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.Maintains attention to detail, completing multiple or repetitive tasks. Demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines. Flexibility required to meet reporting deadlines is required. Hands-on style and able to work with minimal supervision. Good verbal and written communication skills, flexibility, punctuality and reliability are required. Education & Experience BS degree in accounting, finance or related field and / or equivalent experience in a cost accounting role in a manufacturing and /or Engineer-to-order environment. Experience with manufacturing environment a plus.Experience with SAP a plusDemonstrated Physical Abilities Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
