CDR ProSource is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee purchasing, sourcing, inventory management, and vendor relationships in Elkhart, IN. This position is responsible for securing materials at competitive prices and favorable terms while maintaining appropriate inventory levels, supporting customer demand, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in procurement, sourcing, price negotiation, vendor management, and inventory control. Experience with product importing and the electrical industry is highly preferred.

Job Details

• Job Type: Full-Time
• Job Location: Elkhart, IN
• Pay Rate: $52,000–$80,000 per year
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels and identify purchasing needs to maximize inventory turns and customer service.
• Source, evaluate, and establish relationships with new vendors, suppliers, and product manufacturers.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and delivery terms with suppliers.
• Evaluate vendors based on pricing, quality, service, reliability, availability, and overall value.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with reliable suppliers.
• Manage and oversee the Assistant Purchasing Agent.
• Prepare and process purchase orders, bids, and purchasing documentation.
• Monitor product demand and forecast future purchasing requirements.
• Develop cost-reduction strategies and identify opportunities for purchasing savings.
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure products are received accurately and in good condition.
• Communicate potential shortages, pricing concerns, and supply issues to Sales and management.
• Prepare cost analyses and monitor purchasing performance.
• Develop and improve purchasing procedures to increase efficiency.
• Manage inventory to minimize excess stock, waste, and scrap.
• Assist with customer phone calls and counter sales as needed.
• Attend industry trade shows and exhibitions when required.
• Travel to company branches for inventory approximately twice per year or less.
• Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, laws, and applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and purchasing/procurement software.
• Experience with product importing strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in sourcing, purchasing, price negotiation, and vendor relationship management.
• Electrical industry experience preferred, ideally 3+ years.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Valid driver's license required.
