Description:
The Neurointerventional Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the direction of a physician in neurointerventional services.
Procedures include extra-cranial and intracranial angiography, vertebroplasty, spinal injections, myelograms, cisternograms, embolizations, cryoablations, coilings, and clot retrievals.
Customers served include employees, medical staff, patients, and regulatory agencies.
Priority is given to activities that directly affect customer service.
The technologist provides technical support for all neurointerventional procedures including discograms, aspirations, therapeutic injections, angiography, and ablations.
Clinical assistance, both sterile and non-sterile, is provided for neurointerventional procedures including tumor, epistaxis, and spinal lesion embolization.
The technologist operates required advanced imaging equipment using established guidelines and imaging protocols.
Safety standards must be met, and radiation safety practices adhered to.
Instruction is provided to students and residents, and preceptor duties are performed when necessary.
Quality assurance checks on equipment are conducted regularly.
The technologist assists in maintaining supply inventory for all procedures.
Utilization of information systems for scheduling is necessary.
The technologist reviews coding procedures for accurate billing of all procedures.
Continuous learning is encouraged through lectures, seminars, and educational readings.
Adherence to accepted clinical principles, methods, and procedures is required when performing or supervising interventional diagnostic procedures.
Confidentiality of patients and hospital information must be maintained.
Compliance with all policies and procedures pertaining to incident reporting is mandatory.
Other related duties may be performed as required.
