Maintenance Mechanic Food Plant in Los Angeles

Overview We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and be proficient in various maintenance tasks. Essential Functions Perform maintenance to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, PLC, and facility (this includes heat, steam, cooling, electrical, power, air, hydraulics and general facility). Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues. Physical ability to perform manual tasks, stand, bend, lift and work in a cold manufacturing environment. Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical components, air compressor systems, plumbing, machinery and equipment. Analyze and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Monitor and inspect machines to identify any issues, malfunctions, irregularities and promptly address them to minimize downtime. Use hand tools, measuring instruments and specialized equipment to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and electronic issues. Provide technical guidance and training to machine operators to enhance their understanding of machine functions. Complete work orders in a timely manner, maintaining high quality standards. Maintain communication with other departments and management to notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production. Ensure all documentation is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format. Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to management. Clean and sanitize equipment as per the requirements according to company policies and procedures. Follow Good Manufacturer Practices. Maintain a clean and sanitary work area. Follow all required safe practices, including but not limited to Lockout‑tag out requirements, wearing all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling and fall restraints. Adhere to all company policies, plant rules and regulations including SQF and food safety. Comply with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies. Qualifications and Skills Excellent written and oral communication skills. 10+ years of experience repairing electrical and mechanical systems. Ability to interact with all levels of management and co‑workers. Education and training in electronics and electrical systems. Experience with hydraulic systems. Experience using work order systems. Physical Requirements Lift up to 80 lbs. as needed. Work in varying temperatures of hot and cold. Ability to constantly and repetitively stand, walk, stoop, bend, lift and pull. Ability to work standing for the duration of shift. Ability to work in a refrigerated environment and on wet floors for the duration of shift. Operate all necessary equipment including floor scrubber, bailer, pallet jacks, forklift, dolly, hand pallet jack, hand truck, and any other warehouse equipment. Environment/Working Conditions This is a physically demanding position. Temperatures vary between hot and cold and wet and dry. There is some heavy lifting and the work is repetitive. Team work requires all members of our staff to work together as a team and perform their jobs in a productive manner at all times.
