Swiss Screw Machine Programmer

We are looking for a skilled CNC Screw Machine Programmer to support precision manufacturing operations in the Santa Clara area. This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and proving out complex, multi-axis programs for high-precision CNC Swiss-style screw machines (such as Citizen, Star, or Tsugami).

The ideal candidate brings expertise in ESPRIT or Mastercam, along with hands-on setup capabilities to take high-complexity parts from initial CAD blueprint to final production.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years of dedicated CNC Swiss/Screw Machine programming and setup experience in high-precision industries (e.g., Aerospace, Medical, Semiconductor, or Tech).

• Software: Proven hands-on proficiency in either ESPRIT (preferred for Swiss machining) or Mastercam.

• Machine Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Swiss-type automatic lathes (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, Tornos, or Hanwha) and Fanuc / Mitsubishi controls.

• Technical Skills: Mastery of G-code/M-code editing, live tooling, main/sub-spindle synchronization, and macro programming.

• Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Machine Tool Technology/CAD-CAM preferred. ZPMLSTCM

Responsibilities

• CAM Programming: Create, edit, and optimize offline 2D, 3D, and multi-axis toolpaths using ESPRIT or Mastercam CAM software.

• Process Optimization: Program complex multi-channel, Swiss-turn operations, optimizing cycle times, tool interference, sync codes, feeds, and speeds.

• Setup & Prove-Out: Perform or oversee program prove-outs at the machine, adjusting post-processors, offset settings, and live tooling layouts as needed.

• Tooling & Workholding: Select cutting tools, insert geometries, guide bushings, collets, and custom fixturing to maximize tool life and achieve tight tolerances (down to $\pm0.0002"$).

• Blueprints & GD&T: Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.

• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality teams to inspect first-article parts using micrometers, optical comparators, CMMs, and pin gauges.
