The IT Configuration Analyst provides configuration management leadership to ensure the configuration management database (CMDB) accurately represents enterprise infrastructure, applications, and services. This role owns day‑to‑day and strategic CMDB activities, ensuring configuration data is complete, trusted, and usable for decision‑making across the IT environment. Operating at a journeyman level, the analyst leads configuration audits, data quality improvement efforts, and governance activities that underpin effective incident, change, and problem management. The position serves as a key liaison between operations, engineering, and service management stakeholders to ensure configuration practices support stable, efficient, and compliant IT service delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead day‑to‑day CMDB operations by establishing and enforcing processes to create, update, and retire configuration items (CIs) and their relationships. Analyze discovery feeds, manual updates, and change records to reconcile data discrepancies and drive corrective actions that improve CMDB completeness and accuracy. Plan and execute configuration audits and certifications, compare CMDB data to actual infrastructure and application inventories, and oversee remediation with owning teams. Configure and use ITSM/CMDB tools to build queries, reports, and dashboards that support impact analysis, risk assessment, and operational decision‑making. Ensure change, incident, and problem records are correctly associated with CIs to improve traceability, root cause analysis, and reporting on service impacts. Define, monitor, and report on CMDB data quality metrics, and partner with stakeholders to implement governance, standards, and training that sustain data integrity. Contribute to configuration management plans, procedures, and work instructions, aligning them with ITIL practices and enterprise policies for a regulated federal IT environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. 4–7 years of experience in configuration management, service management, or related IT operations roles, including hands‑on CMDB administration and data quality improvement. Demonstrated working knowledge of ITIL‑aligned service asset and configuration management concepts and their integration with incident, change, and problem processes. Experience using enterprise ITSM/CMDB platforms (such as ServiceNow or similar) to maintain CIs, manage relationships, and build operational and audit reports. Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance, with U.S. citizenship required. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple technical and business teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting or leading an enterprise CMDB implementation, including discovery, service mapping, or integration with other IT operations tools. ITIL Foundation or higher‑level ITSM certification validating formal knowledge of configuration and related processes. Prior experience in a federal or highly regulated environment with documented configuration governance and audit requirements. Background in data quality, reporting, or metrics development focused on configuration or asset management data.
