Schedule: Full-time | Monday - Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and enjoy helping others? The Lee County Circuit Clerk's Office is looking for a dependable, customer-focused  Deputy Clerk to join our team.

As a Deputy Clerk, you'll play an important role in supporting the court system by assisting with court records, processing legal documents, helping members of the public, and ensuring the day-to-day operations of the office run smoothly. Every day brings something new in this fast-paced and rewarding environment.

What You'll Do

As a Deputy Clerk, you will:

• Process, prepare, file, and manage a variety of court and legal documents.
• Attend Civil, Criminal, Traffic, and Family Court proceedings and accurately record court actions. 
• Operate computerized case management systems to enter, maintain, and retrieve court records.
• Code documents according to established county procedures.
• Answer multiple phone lines and assist attorneys, court personnel, and members of the public while providing excellent customer service (without providing legal advice).
• Collect court fines and fees, process payments, and issue receipts.
• Assist customers both in person and by telephone with professionalism and courtesy.
• Interpret and work with technical and legal documents.
• Maintain confidential information and accurate records.
• Follow all federal, state, and county policies and procedures.
• Support the Circuit Clerk's Office by assisting coworkers and performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

• Experience working in an office setting.
• Experience providing customer service to the public.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in a busy office environment using computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and other standard office equipment. The position is largely sedentary but does require occasional filing, lifting files, bending, and reaching. 

Additional Information

• Full-time, non-exempt position.
• No regular travel is required, although occasional training opportunities may arise. 
• Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check.
