Labor Associate Attorney – Midlevel

Direct Counsel is seeking a midlevel Labor Associate Attorney with 4–6 years of experience to join a sophisticated Labor, Employment & Immigration practice. The ideal candidate will have meaningful traditional labor experience and a strong interest in representing employers on complex labor relations matters.

Position Overview

This attorney will work closely with a collaborative team representing regional and national employers in a broad range of traditional labor matters, labor relations issues, and workplace disputes . The position offers significant client contact, hands-on responsibility, and opportunities to develop a sophisticated labor practice.

Responsibilities

• Advise and represent employers in labor relations matters, including:
  • Union organizing campaigns
  • Collective bargaining
  • Grievance and arbitration proceedings
  • Unfair labor practice charges
  • Labor-management disputes
• Represent and support clients in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) .
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, briefs, and other advocacy materials.
• Counsel clients regarding labor and employment compliance issues.
• Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex workplace matters.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, practical legal guidance.
• Contribute to business development initiatives, client alerts, and thought leadership.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
• 4–6 years of labor and employment experience at a law firm, government agency, or comparable legal environment.
• Experience handling traditional labor matters and advising employers on labor relations issues.
• Prior NLRB experience required.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented practice.

Compensation & Benefits

Annualized salary ranges are:

• Seattle, Los Angeles & San Francisco: $225,000–$330,000
• Portland: $215,000–$315,000
• Anchorage: $158,000–$258,000

Actual compensation will vary based on factors including education, training, experience, and other job-related qualifications.
