Registered Nurse - Clinic and Prep / Recovery

Job Summary Provides professional nursing care to assigned pre‑ and post‑procedure patients. Monitors vital signs, administers medications—including intravenous medications—and develops patient care discharge plans in conjunction with physicians. Supports patients as they wake from anesthesia, including bandage maintenance, pain management, nausea treatment, and ensuring patients receive adequate rest, fluids, and nutrients. Observes patients’ progress, records observations in patient medical records, and updates attending physicians directly when necessary. Teaches patients how to clean bandages, take medication, and follow post‑surgical care instructions. Also provides patient care coordination and triage to support the clinic, records patient histories, calls in pharmacy orders and refills, assists with clinic patient care, and addresses patient questions and concerns related to pre‑ and post‑procedure care. Pay and Benefits Pay: $41.06 - $72.84 per hour based on relevant experience, skills, and abilities. Schedule 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday – Friday. Essential Job Functions Identify patient/family needs. Explain procedural process (who, what, why, and how long). Inform families of waiting areas. Update families of procedural progress and causes of delays. Assess patient’s level of understanding. Modify teaching technique to achieve patient comprehension. Ensure interpreter arrangements if needed. Maintain patient privacy and safety measures (radiation safety, safety devices, etc.). Arrange follow‑up procedural care or agency notification when indicated. Initiate physician orders, review patient records for consent, H&P, medications, allergies, lab values, and procedure preparation. Prepare patient for procedure: assess pain level, attach monitors, record baseline vitals, begin documentation. Initiate post‑procedure care/recovery: stabilize patient, assess sedation level, complete documentation, ready patient for transport and assist with transport if needed. Foster teamwork with medical, technical, and ancillary personnel throughout imaging services. Maintain openness with communication and flexibility in response to changing work assignments. Approach work environment with enthusiasm, sense of humor, and positive attitude. Locate and check emergency equipment and crash cart in the pre‑/post‑procedure area. Collect data and conduct analysis regarding patient health status. Develop nursing diagnoses and identify patient problems to deliver effective care. Plan nursing care to assist patients and families in achieving health and wellness or a dignified death. Implement the plan of care by initiating nursing interventions and supervising other members of the care team. Evaluate patient responses and modify care plans as needed. Delegate nursing functions, supervise those functions, and evaluate outcomes. Conduct health teaching: assess learning needs, implement teaching plan, and evaluate outcome. Communicate significant changes in patient status, document care, act as patient advocate, and contribute to organizational success. Qualifications Education / Work Experience A minimum of two years’ post‑sedation experience. Bachelor of Science Nursing preferred. Licensed as a Registered Nurse required. Current RSN licensure in the state of Washington. ACLS certification, as required by facility or department. Current BLS certification required. Job Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of disease entities commonly seen within Interventional Radiology. Patient assessment and care – ability to assess ailments and injuries and implement a treatment plan. Knowledge of age‑related care needs for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients and/or families. Clinical policies and standards – knowledge of industry standards, policies, and procedures. Patient rights – knowledge of principles and practices associated with patient and caregiver rights. Health information documentation – ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and results in written or electronic format. Ability to apply healthcare knowledge of operating principles, regulatory issues, and ethics. Organizational skills – ability to manage multiple tasks and carry out instructions effectively.
