Pediatric Medical Director

Sioux Valley Family Health

Sioux Valley Family Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Pediatric Medical Director to provide clinical leadership for pediatric services while supporting high-quality, patient-centered care. This position will work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and administrative leadership to establish clinical standards, promote quality improvement, and ensure that pediatric patients receive safe, effective, and coordinated care.

The ideal candidate will combine strong pediatric clinical expertise with leadership, communication, and team-development skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for pediatric medical services.
  • Establish and maintain evidence-based clinical standards, protocols, and care pathways.
  • Support physicians and clinical staff in the delivery of high-quality pediatric care.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient-safety, and clinical performance initiatives.
  • Review clinical outcomes and identify opportunities to improve pediatric services.
  • Provide guidance on complex pediatric cases when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with primary care, behavioral health, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Promote preventive care, developmental screening, immunization programs, and health education.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development of pediatric clinical staff.
  • Support compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in medical staff meetings and clinical leadership activities.
  • Help develop and evaluate pediatric service programs and operational initiatives.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and confidentiality.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff, patients, and families.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree ( MD or DO ) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics .
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in the applicable state.
  • Significant experience providing pediatric clinical care.
  • Previous medical leadership, supervisory, or program-development experience preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification and other applicable clinical credentials.
  • Strong understanding of pediatric preventive care, diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Strong commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and family-centered care.
