Journeyman Electrician 1Summary/Objective A Journeyman Electrician 1 is the first level of licensed Journeyman Electrician. Works under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent in installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on any type project. A Journeyman 1 may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classifications E4, A8. In addition, a first level Journeyman:Lays out work and preps materials for installation.Performs underground layout and rough-in.Determines wire and conduit sizing.Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.Installs BUSS feeders.Performs switchgear installation and terminations.Installs and connects power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.Troubleshoots and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.Operates any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.Skills/CompetenciesBasic Mathematical SkillsTechnical and Mechanical CapacityCommunicationProficiencyEthical CapacitySupervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary, 40 hours per week, overtime may be required. Travel Job Sites can be located in multiple locations and out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.Required Education and Experience 1. Journeyman's License 2. Current Driver's License and must have own reliable transportation. 3. High School Graduate, GED or equivalent. 4.
