As a Senior Staff Engineer working on the Biologics Process Development team, you will be empowered to develop and optimize tools to enable development processes and model process economics for use in manufacturing facilities.POSITION OBJECTIVES:The successful candidate will be part of the Data & Modeling Applications Group within Biotherapeutics Process Development and will support process development and optimization of production processes for biopharmaceuticals through modeling approaches. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Mechanistic modeling of upstream and downstream processes with simulation software applications to enhance model-based process developmentModeling of process sustainability and economics of new or improved biopharmaceutical manufacturing platforms and fit into manufacturing facilitiesPerform multivariate process trending analysis in support of development and optimization of manufacturing processes for biopharmaceuticals and bioconjugatesModel impact of innovative strategies on existing and new manufacturing processesApply modeling approaches to process development including model transfer learningProvide modeling support for biopharmaceutical process characterization activities in preparation for process validationEvaluation of process and cost modeling software applications for use in biopharmaceutical developmentCollaboration with internal and external groupsRepresent the Process Development Department on various project teamsDevelopment of AI/ML model applications for hybrid models, and the exploration of innovative approaches to model building, including AI/ML techniques.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:To Be Considered at the Senior Staff Engineer Level:The preferred candidate holds a Ph.D. degree or a M.S. degree in biochemical engineering/biotechnology, data sciences, predictive modeling or closely related fields with 3+ years (PhD.) or 10+ years (M.S.) of experience in modeling and bioprocess development. Requirements:The open position requires hands-on experience in process modeling applications (such as gProms, GoSilico, BioSolve, SIMCA, etc.).Additional hands-on and lab-based process and/or high-throughput development experience is preferred.The candidate should be familiar with cGMPs for biopharmaceuticals and regulatory submissions and show the ability to work well independently as well as a member of a team.High communication skills, excellent written and verbal communicationProgramming skills (e.g. Matlab, Python)Ability to present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholdersAbility to work in fast-paced environmentsTeamwork skills for working in a diverse, global environmentWillingness to stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologiesTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:May require approximately 10-20% travelTakeda Compensation and Benefits SummaryWe understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career.
