School Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in Vista, CA for the 26/27 school year ! This is a full-time position supporting a local K-12 district with private duty/1:1 nursing services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Active RN license valid in California
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification
• Demonstrated competency in the specific skills required for the assigned student including:
  • Standby for Safety (SFS)
  • Positioning and Turning (PT)
  • Mobility Assistance (MA)
  • Transferring / Ambulation (TRA)
  • Mobility Assistance (MA)
  • Ileostomy Care (ILC)
  • Medication & administration via GT
  • Medication Oral (MO)
  • Monitor Fluid Intake (MFI)
  • Bowel Bladder Care (BBC)
  • Feeding (F)
  • Oxygen Administration (OA)
  • Range of Motion (RGM)
  • Suctioning (SU)
  • Tracheotomy Care (TC)
  • Tube Feeding (TF)
  • Stoma Care (SC)
  • Seizure observation/reporting (S2)
  • Self-Injuries Behavior Monitoring (SIB)
  • Nebulizer Treatment
  • Observation Physical Status (OPS)
  • Vital Signs (VS)
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently in a non-clinical environment
• Experience working with Pediatric population

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, therapists, and healthcare providers
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Prior school-based experience highly preferred

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Maintain continuous observation of assigned student throughout the school day
• Implement and monitor student health plans
• Accompany student during transportation and community-based activities when assigned
• Communicate significant status changes to family, school staff, and clinical leadership
• Provide first aid, daily medical care, and emergency support
• Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA requirements
