About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Counsel with a focus on real estate to join their legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of legal matters related to the company's portfolio of properties, including but not limited to, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents for complex retail real estate transactions. This role requires the ability to advise business leaders on high-exposure legal issues, lead negotiations, and provide practical legal advice that aligns with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, an active bar license, and at least 10 years' of experience in transactional real estate law, with a significant background in commercial retail real estate. Key responsibilities for the Senior Counsel include partnering with various business teams, mentoring less experienced legal staff, and leading cross-functional projects. The role demands a professional with a strong legal background, in-depth knowledge of commercial real estate, and the ability to manage and lead negotiations independently. Experience in areas such as shopping center leasing, reciprocal easement agreements, and property acquisitions and dispositions is essential. The candidate should also have a proven track record in handling complex commercial real estate transactions and be adept at providing clear, practical counsel in both routine and contentious situations. While not mandatory, experience with team coaching, development, and a background in working with publicly traded real estate investment trusts (REITs) or large commercial real estate platforms is considered a plus.
