Tenure Track Assistant Professor Biomedical Sciences Ames, IA Full Time Job Requisition Number: R19889 Position Title Tenure Track Assistant Professor Biomedical Sciences Appointment Type Faculty Job Description Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. These are full-time, 9-month positions with salary commensurate with qualifications. The successful candidates will join a department with active research programs in pharmacology, neuroscience, vaccine development, infectious disease, and molecular and cell biology. These individuals will be expected to establish a dynamic, extramurally-funded research program within these or a complementary field pertinent to human and/or animal health. The successful candidates will also teach pharmacology to professional and/or graduate students. Research programs in pharmacology-relevant disciplines are of particular interest, including neurobiology, cellular signaling, drug mechanism and mode of action, endocrinology, toxicology, and receptor or antimicrobial pharmacology. Required Minimum Qualifications PhD with research experience relevant to Biomedical Sciences Preferred Qualifications Research plans and experience relevant to Pharmacology or other Biomedical Sciences Strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals relative to appointment Demonstrated success obtaining extramural funding Evidence of effective research mentoring experience Teaching engagement at a university or professional school Department/Program & College Description The Biomedical Sciences department supports the mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine by teaching a basic science curriculum to veterinary medical students, conducting state-of-the-art basic and translational research relevant to the health of animals and humans, and educating graduate students through both the departmental graduate program and several multidisciplinary interdepartmental programs at Iowa State University. Departmental faculty research programs span a range of One Health disciplines including pharmacology, neuroscience, microbial and helminth infectious disease and vaccine development.
