Mechanical Project Test Engineer

Sturtevant, WIDescription We’re a leading global fitness company seeking a talented and hands-on Mechanical Project Test Engineer to work in our New Product Development (NPD) team as a specialist to evaluate and resolve potential risk and failure areas. Based on design analysis, use case study, and historical data, this engineer will establish test protocols, design and create test fixtures, set-up and execute tests, obtain and analyze data, then work with the development team on outcomes. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time New Product Development:· Detailed mechanical and key component design review and analysis for potential failure and risk areas· Partnership with related engineering functions on failure and risk analysis· Test plan development and execution to mitigate design and use risks· Product safety review process and expertise· Understanding and application of regulatory and internal test standards· Product specification review and analysisProject Engineering:· Support the development team with multiple projects through the New Product Development process· Support the development team for all phase gate deliverables and ensure completion to company standards· Daily interaction with development teams on design and testingDesign and Test Engineering:· Development of test standards and procedures· Design and hands-on creation of test fixtures, set-ups, and related equipment· Participate in product safety review processes· Obtain and analyze field and user data, develop and execute test protocols for root cause, design and verify solutions· Perform detailed design analysis utilizing engineering mechanics, FBD’s, FEA, fatigue analysis, and related· Develop and review drawings, perform tolerance analysis, create and review sample partsProduction Transition support:· Develop functional requirements and test plans for transition of product into mass productionRequirementsEducation:· BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering mechanics, or similar Experience:· Minimum of 1 year of mechanical engineering· Well qualified candidates will possess engineering experience with fitness products and strong fitness market knowledge· Expertise with engineering mechanics and design analysis· Proficiency with fixture design, test setup, air cylinders, load cells, electro-mechanical control systems, and data acquisition· Strong FEA, DFMEA, test plan development and execution skills· Demonstrable experience designing components for various manufacturing processes including sheet metal, tube forming, machining, welding & joining, etc.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
