We offer an attractive compensation package (please refer to the Terms and Conditions section of this vacancy announcement). POSITION TITLE: Mass Fundraising Lead ORG UNIT: Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) DUTY STATION: Fully Remote (Administrative Duty Station is Rome, HQ) CONTRACT TYPE : Short-Term, Regular Consultant (CST 2) DURATION : 11 months LINE MANAGER/SUPERVISOR : Head of Supporter Experience

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Private Partnerships & Fundraising Division (PSP) is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector to support the World Food Programme’s (WFP’s) global mission. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Every day, over 5,000 WFP-chartered trucks are on the road, supported by around 80 aircraft and 20 ships delivering food and assistance to those in need. Despite our efforts, the needs remain immense and growing, driven by a deadly combination of conflict, climate shocks, economic instability, and forced displacement. As of 2025, over 345 million people face acute food insecurity across 79 countries. To meet these needs and build a more sustainable, predictable, and flexible funding stream, we began investing in growing our individual giving programme in 2019 and, this year will have completed the first phase of our strategy (2020-2025). WFP’s second phase of the private sector strategy for 2025–2030 sets out an ambitious plan to further scale income from individuals, enabling us to reach more people with life‑saving assistance. Our approach is digital-first, leveraging global reach and cost-effective tools to engage supporters worldwide. In addition to digital channels we are now expanding into Face‑to‑Face (F2F) and Direct Response Television (DRTV) fundraising to diversify acquisition and deepen engagement. This centralized, global strategy positions WFP to leapfrog traditional models and build a robust individual giving programme that delivers long-term impact.

INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISING

WFP’s Individual Giving programme launched in 2019 and has grown into a USD +50 million annual operation, raising over USD 150 million in its first five years. The programme is built around a digital-first strategy, led by a centralized global team that recruits supporters primarily through digital channels. We deliver a multi‑lingual, multi‑channel supporter experience, designed to offer a best‑in‑class donor journey. Donors are recruited in English, French, German, Spanish, and Arabic, with additional capabilities in Korean and Chinese. Supporter engagement is delivered through email, SMS, WhatsApp, outbound telephone, and Meta. To expand reach and diversify acquisition, Face‑to‑Face (F2F) and Direct Response Television (DRTV) fundraising are being introduced as complementary channels in the next phase of our strategy.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The Individual Giving team is seeking an experienced fundraiser to lead IG’s new Mass Fundraising workstream. To date, donor development within the IG programme has been delivered through two primary workstreams: Regular Giving and Single Giving. In 2026, these will be brought together under a unified Mass Fundraising workstream to improve integrated planning and provide greater support for the Regular Giving function. The Mass Fundraising Lead will oversee this transition and shape the strategy for a cohesive programme that delivers stronger, more sustainable growth from our existing donor base. The Mass Fundraising Lead will be a motivated self‑starter, comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to the rapid growth within IG. They will be solution orientated and confident in using data to guide decisions, course‑correct and ensure strategy evolves in line with donor trends and behaviours. The role will lead the development of the Mass Fundraising programme, drawing on sector best practice and innovations from beyond WFP to introduce new ways to engage donors. It will be accountable for income from IG’s mass donor audience – SV–MV donors giving $5–$9,999 through single and regular gifts – generated through a multichannel programme spanning email, telemarketing, messaging platforms, SMS and direct mail. This is an opportunity to directly shape strategy and growth of WFP’s Mass Fundraising programme, take ownership over one of IG’s largest income streams, and scope a clear vision that the rest of the Mass Fundraising sub‑team can embrace. The role will report into the Head of Supporter Experience and will initially manage three line reports: a Single Giving Specialist, a Regular Giving Specialist and a Supporter Experience coordinator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead the strategic direction of the Mass Fundraising Workstream Head up the newly unified Mass Fundraising workstream, bringing together Single Giving and Regular Giving into one programme to drive the most value for WFP. Guide the integration of SG and RG planning to ensure a consolidated and consistent, omnichannel marketing programme. Submit Mass Fundraising annual forecasts and monitor income against targets, identifying risks and opportunities to course correct. Track essential metrics across the year, sharing monthly reports with IG stakeholders. 2. Lead the development of the Regular Giving Mass Fundraising strategy With support from the RG Specialist, develop the Regular Giving Fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with IG’s long term growth ambitions and the 2025 Board Investment Agreement. Scope new opportunities to better retain and convert RGs, and increase the value of the file, based on sector best practice and through systematic testing. 3. Develop the Mid-Value Mass Fundraising strategy Develop the Mid-Value Mass Fundraising strategy. Oversee the implementation of journeys that better serve MV donors and prospects, and increase the value of the file. Take the MV product to market and assess performance against the existing approach. Collaborate with the Major Giving team to ensure seamless integration across programmes and segments. 4. Line management of Mass Fundraising sub‑team Manage a sub‑team of at least three to deliver ambitious seven figure annual income targets. Ensure effective allocation of work to maintain pace during the transition period and beyond. Develop new processes where required. Ensure the team is sufficiently resourced now and make a case for additional resource as required (in line with the Management Plan). Set annual objectives for team members and hold regular check‑ins to monitor progress, provide coaching and address challenges. Ensure all IG colleagues, including Supporter Care, understand their roles in delivering the Mass Fundraising strategies. Foster a collaborative, high performance culture that supports innovation, accountability and continuous improvement. 5. Design and optimise campaigns and journeys Oversee the delivery and optimisation of all SG and RG BAU activities across existing channels (email, WhatsApp, telemarketing, SMS). Use data and giving trends to inform fundraising decisions. Scope and implement new channels (such as direct mail and SMS) to generate additional funds and reach donors in ways that suit them. Oversee donor journeys, including welcome, conversion, upgrade, reactivation and pathways into mid value. Expand BAU programmes into new languages and markets as IG’s global remit develops. Identify, scope and implement new market opportunities which will drive significant income, such as an implementation of Gift Aid in the UK. Gather engaging and relevant content from the field that resonates with SV and MV audiences. Provide inspiring briefs, educate colleagues on Mass Fundraising requirements and keep stakeholders up to date on results. 6. Lead the adoption and optimisation of Salesforce for Mass Fundraising. Act as a key stakeholder in the Salesforce migration, ensuring continuity of email journeys and fully leveraging new capabilities in data selection, segmentation and propensity modelling. Establish clear processes, documentation and training to support effective adoption of Salesforce across the Mass Fundraising sub‑team. 7. Internal & external collaboration Responsible for stakeholder management, including multiple Telemarketing agencies. Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across IG, PSP and global teams to ensure alignment, visibility and support for the Mass Fundraising workstream. Engage with external peers and sector networks to share insights and benchmarking. 8. Other Stay abreast of sector trends and bring relevant learnings to the team Work with our existing global systems, policies and processes to deliver the objectives of this role in a compliant, collaborative, and efficient way.
