This position performs routine clerical and library duties in the school media center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Catalogues media resources; processes new books, audio-visual materials, periodicals, equipment, and other materials.
2. Operates computer to circulate and locate materials, accesses information, generates reports, and conduct inventory.
3. Assists teachers and students in locating print and non print informational resources.
4. Repairs print and nonprint materials.
5. Operates various equipment associated with the media center; assists students and staff with the use of media center equipment.
6. Reshelves returned media materials.
7. Generates a list of overdue materials, issues notices, and receives overdue fines, if applicable.
8. Assists in inventory of materials and equipment.
9. Oversees library assistants.
10. Attends training and other workshops as designated by supervisor.
11. Prepares reports, files, and such on a timely and regular basis.
12. Answers phone and relays messages.
13. Operates computer on a daily basis with reasonable accuracy and speed.
14. Photocopies documents.
15. Monitors behavior of students in the media center; assists with supervision of students.
16. Prepares off-air taping of educational television programming.
17. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisor.

Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED); basic keyboarding, some bookkeeping and phone duties; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Ability to read and comprehend job specific technical information, simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and position specific manuals. Ability to write correspondence and reports. Ability to effectively articulate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to conduct position related data analysis. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
4. Ability to facilitate the problem solving processes. Ability to synthesize workable options from given facts, and assist in the development of workable solutions.
5. Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and other job specified technologies.
6. Ability to interact effectively with colleagues, administrators, teachers, staff members, students using tactful yet effective skills. Ability to collaborate well with others and display a cooperative attitude. Service oriented and actively seek ways to assist others.

Professional Requirements:

Must serve as a role model to students. Appropriate dress and grooming consistent with established standards required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and lift. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Frequent travel involves exposure to traffic and outdoor elements. Travel to home sites, school sites, and other locations is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently working in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
