PCT - Patient Care Technician - Multiple Shifts

Position Overview

The position is available in the 6 Main, Med Surg department. The schedule includes multiple shifts such as full time evenings from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday-Friday, full time nights from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM Monday-Friday, and part time days from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM every Saturday and Sunday. The work location is UAB St Vincent's Birmingham. What You Will Do

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. Assist patients with ambulation as necessary, including helping them to a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall, and assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles. Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living. Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff and document necessary records. Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment. Perform certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs. Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Education: High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
