Job Description
The CDL A Local Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and safe delivery of general freight, refrigerated goods, and flatbed loads within local and slightly extended routes. Typically covering distances between 150 to over 300 miles daily, the driver adheres to strict safety and schedule compliance while supporting customer needs. Occasional overnight stays may be required, though loading and unloading responsibilities are not part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently over local routes
- Navigate assigned routes, ensuring timely deliveries within scheduled windows
- Comply with all safety regulations and company policies
- Inspect loads to verify secure and proper transport of freight
- Interact professionally with customers during deliveries
- Manage time effectively to optimize route completion
- Report any incidents or vehicle issues promptly
- Maintain adherence to assigned schedules and delivery deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of commercial driving experience
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle operation and route planning
- Experience maintaining logbooks and managing time
- Basic vehicle maintenance skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
