Logistics Technician

About This Role Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Technician located in our Lone Star Operations and is proud to operate in Deer Park, TX. The site operates an emulsion reactor which produces more than twenty polymer products sold into the coatings, building and construction, paper, textiles, and adhesives markets. We are looking for top‑caliber, technically capable Logistics Technicians who embrace change, adapt quickly, make decisions rapidly, possess self‑confidence and are lifelong learners. Site logistics technicians control the movement, storage, and shipping of raw materials and finished products, and operations of several subsidiary systems. Technicians may also be required to cross‑train and certify on the Lone Star laboratory duties and or other areas deemed necessary by the plant. In this role, you will use your prior related experience, job‑related training, or vocational training to complete routine activities. You will need basic technical or administrative skills to follow established and approved work processes, understand how these duties relate to other jobs within your workgroup, and be able to exchange basic technical information with other team members. Responsibilities Product loading of railcars, tank trucks, isotainers, and flexitanks (bladder tanks) Product unloading hazardous and non‑hazardous materials. Product storage operations; hose switching station operations; scale house operations; railcar cleaning. Enter Load In, Load Complete, and Shipment Complete in SAP for all shipments. Complete tank transfers, switching and monitoring. Perform operator maintenance duties including instrument lead clearing, small gasket change‑outs and line unplugging. Perform incidental maintenance (including changing out pumps and valves) Lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment including proper clearing and isolation of equipment. Offload packaged raw materials in the warehouse; date and put away raw materials in the warehouse; rotate raw materials in the warehouse; label lines; paint and clean as time permits. Complete filter/strainer changes as required. Prepare equipment for maintenance (including isolation of energy sources, line and equipment opening). Follow the MPWP, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices. Issue Safe Work Permits for all types of unit maintenance. Perform routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products. Create and improve operating disciplines for safe and efficient operations. Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve technical issues within the plant. Use electronic tools such as LIMS, CDS, SAP, Electronic Logbook, and MTL, as required. Effectively work in a team environment. Work with engineers, process operators, supervisors, schedulers, maintenance, and lab technicians. Obtain and process product samples to ensure quality control. Fill out and process necessary paperwork pertinent to the job. Perform the duties associated with the Lone Star laboratory. Operate pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment. Identify and mitigate any possible hazards that may arise. Train new distribution operators and educate team members. Participate and plan special projects as needed. Participate and lead department teams for the purpose of meeting department/company milestones and goals. Perform crisis response activities. Work with schedulers & vendors to process returns and resolve shipping issues. Required Qualifications A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required. Current, valid US driver’s license. Must be able to work legally in the United States; no visa sponsorship/support is available. Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Associate’s degree and/or a Process Technology Certification. 3 or more years of Military experience with a technical specialty in lieu of a degree. Skills Multitasking: Manage multiple operational tasks simultaneously while maintaining safety and accuracy, including loading/unloading, monitoring transfers and systems, completing SAP work, performing maintenance, and adapting to shifting priorities. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical, process, or system issues, including diagnosing deviations, responding to alarms/abnormal conditions, clearing blockages, resolving transfer issues, and applying corrective actions per safety and operating standards. Communication: Clearly exchange information across stakeholders. Includes shift handoffs, coordination with operations, maintenance, and vendors, permit issuance, emergency response, and accurate documentation in SAP, logs, lab records, and permits. Collaboration: Work effectively in a team environment, coordinating with operators, maintenance, engineering, lab teams, and schedulers to ensure safe product movement, quality control, and operational goals. Initiative: Proactively take ownership and drive improvements, including strengthening operating discipline, mitigating hazards, supporting projects and training, handling abnormal situations, and contributing to continuous improvement. Positive Attitude: Stay engaged, adaptable, and safety‑focused in a demanding environment, supporting teamwork, cross‑training (including lab work), and consistent performance in shift, outdoor, and high‑pressure conditions. Physical Requirements Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be willing and able to perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting. Must be able to climb stairs and work at heights. Should be able to enter confined spaces such as tanks, pits, and vessels. Must be able to work in tight or closed‑in spaces. Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Required to work outdoors in the plant in all types of weather, climb stairs, ladders, walk and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Able to meet physical requirements for the emergency response team. Required to drive a fork truck and yard goat/mule. Work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300 lbs (typically for individuals weighing 285 lbs or less).
