Location: Herndon, Virginia. Responsibilities As a Data Engineer, you will: Design data models, build data warehouses and lakes, and automate data pipelines. Optimize data flow by reducing redundancy and ensuring accessibility within security boundaries. Apply ETL techniques to connect large data sets from diverse sources. Create data collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data. Build cyber and operational analytic tools to assist consumers in building and optimizing downstream products. Develop and enforce standards, tools, processes, and governance for capturing, modeling, storing, and delivering data. Required Qualifications We are actively seeking Systems Engineers to perform as a Data Engineer with a minimum of 11 years' experience. Information Technology or Engineering bachelor’s or master’s degrees are preferred. Specific skills include: Experience integrating diverse data streams. Experience with data transfer tools (e.g., NiFi, Cribl). Establishing data standards and acting as custodian of IT and service delivery data sets and streams. Experience analyzing complex networks and systems. Experience analyzing log data from various network components and operating systems. Knowledge of complex environments involving shared networks and multiple security enclaves. Systems Engineer with Data Engineer background. Ability to manage and troubleshoot data feeds. Splunk familiarity. Python proficiency. Desired Qualifications Security Development and Operations (SecDevOps). Hands‑on Splunk experience and certifications. Scripting tools including Python, ShellScript, or Ansible. Cloud security controls and implementation. Public, private, and hybrid cloud experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.). AWS Certified Security Specialty. Pay & Benefits Estimated salary range in the Washington, DC metropolitan area: $175,000 – $195,000 (final compensation based on experience, education, location, and contractual requirements).
