Phlebotomist II

Pay Range: $19.38hr - $22.53hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II represents the face of the organization to patients who come in as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The position draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The role maintains direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. Assignments may be in a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform with confidence both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including securing patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures including company dress code, employee health and safety, and operational guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple patient service center and in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated customer focus, with strong verbal and written communication skills to interact transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience required.
