Job Title: Bankruptcy Associate Department: Operations Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 Benefits - Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, ESOP Job Description: Velocity Investments is a specialized financial services firm that focuses on acquiring and managing distressed receivables. The Bankruptcy Associate will assist on overseeing all bankruptcy-related matters for accounts within our portfolio. This role will report to the Director of Bankruptcy. This role involves monitoring bankruptcy filings, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, and working closely with internal teams and external counsel to protect the company's interests in bankruptcy proceedings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Review and process bankruptcy notices, filings, and court documents. File proofs of claim, objections, and other necessary pleadings in bankruptcy cases. Monitor bankruptcy case status and deadlines to ensure timely action. Communicate with bankruptcy trustees, attorneys, and courts as needed. Maintain accurate records in the company's case management system. Collaborate with internal collections, compliance, and legal teams to align strategies. Ensure adherence to FDCPA, CFPB, and other regulatory requirements. Assist in audits and reports related to bankruptcy accounts. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Prior Experience in bankruptcy processing and familiarity with Ch 7 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings preferred. Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry. Ability to work efficiently and manage a high volume of repetitive tasks. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, PDF tools, and web-based filing systems). Familiarity with bankruptcy claims or legal documentation a plus. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
