Virtual Reality Lab Student Worker

Title: Virtual Reality Lab Student Worker Position Type: Workstudy College: Community College of Denver Division: Academic Affairs Department: CCD Teaching and Learning Center Campus: Auraria Campus Location: Denver Salary Range: 19.29 Job Summary: The Immersive Learning Lab supports Dreamscape Learn (DSL), a VR platform that combines hands-on learning with cinematic storytelling. DSL experiences are available on campus through 3D haptic pods and remotely for online students. This position is the primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors using the Lab for VR labs, campus tours, or general demos. The role ensures every visitor has a smooth, engaging experience from check-in through equipment return. Duties & Responsibilities: Guide participants through VR experiences, including headset setup and removal Provide friendly, clear direction and excellent customer service throughout each session Check participants in for scheduled events and manage the DSL event schedule Test, maintain, clean, and reset VR pods and equipment between uses Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate unresolved problems appropriately Open and close the facility according to CCD procedures Follow all cleaning and safety guidelines Support Lab staff with special projects and research initiatives as needed Receive hands-on training in VR operations and safety before working independently, no prior VR experience required Competencies/KSAs: Experience in customer service roles Enjoys talking to people and are able to resolve issues with positive attitude Understands the importance of punctuality and formality Minimum Qualifications: Must be a current CCD student with a work-study award. Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours. Must be in good academic standing. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with VR general technology Experience providing technical support Experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing role Prior experience preferred, not required Additional Information/Benefits: Strong customer service skills, ideally in an educational or retail setting Comfort troubleshooting computer or VR hardware and software Ability to manage a schedule of events in a high-volume environment Clear communication with both technical and non-technical users Willingness to learn new VR systems and equipment Ability to lift/push objects up to and over 50 lbs and to stoop, bend, reach, and stand or walk for extended periods While any pathway can benefit from the transferable skills this role builds, it connects especially well with: STEM - Students maintain, troubleshoot, and test VR hardware and software - hands-on experience with the same technical and analytical skills used in computer science, engineering, and IT coursework.
