Position Responsibilities Takes vital signs on patients. Assists physician with complex procedures during patient examinations, including injections, suture removal, venipunctures, biopsies, and ECGs. Adheres to universal precaution guidelines and sterilization techniques, demonstrating proper preparation of trays and equipment per P & P and manufacturer IFUs. Monitors and manages patient schedule to ensure optimal patient flow among physicians. Greets and escorts patients safely from the waiting area to appropriate physician offices. Prepares supplies and assists provider with cast application/removal. Ensures exam rooms are appropriately stocked with supplies and equipment prior to physician examination. Maintains appropriate par levels and informs supervisor when reorders are necessary. Communicates effectively with patients, explaining procedures and providing preparatory instructions. Remains calm and courteous when dealing with patients and staff, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor. Responds to telephone calls promptly, preferably by the third ring, and transcribes messages accurately. Prepares and administers medication as instructed by the physician, including injections. Maintains organized work areas to maximize efficiency. Demonstrates knowledge of proper use and maintenance of all equipment related to the position. Maintains current licensing and certification necessary for job functions. Possesses effective time‑management skills and assists other staff members when appropriate. Demonstrates willingness to work overtime during hospital or department emergency situations (e.g., hurricane disaster alerts or staffing limitations). Maintains a complete understanding of fire, safety, and other applicable departmental and hospital manuals. Qualifications Medical Assistant certification from an accredited institution or agency required. Phlebotomy certification preferred. CPR certification required. Completion of Medical Assistant training. High school diploma or equivalent. 2–5+ years of Medical Assistant experience.
