Direct Support Professional

Join our Adult Services team to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Roles & Responsibilities As a Direct Support Professional you will assist in daily living activities including health and hygiene management, cooking, cleaning, recreation, and documentation such as shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress reports. You will maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of the individuals we serve. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; diplomas acquired outside the U.S. must be evaluated. One year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, and adults preferred. At least 21 years of age. Valid driver’s license. Empathetic, team player, excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understanding of behavior management theories and positive reinforcement. Must be able to complete required new‑hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs, and possess a valid license. Physical Requirements Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing; some lifting and/or managing resistance related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75‑100 lbs or more. Occasional use of computers and office equipment; occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches. Work Environment Regularly works inside adequately lighted, ventilated areas with possible temperature fluctuations. Use of protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask, protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in Safe and Positive Approaches. What Devereux Offers You Pay range: $17.25 – $19.67 per hour .
