Field Service Technician

$36 per hour

Kokusai Inc

Indianapolis, IN
Field Service Technician (Industrial Machinery)

Location: Indianapolis, IN + 80% Travel

Compensation: Up to $36/hr + Overtime (1.5x after 40 hours, double-time Sundays/holidays) + Night-Away Bonuses + All Travel Expenses Covered

Are you a hands-on mechanical and electrical tech who likes working with your hands, solving complex problems, and traveling rather than sitting behind a desk? If you know your way around PLCs and industrial machinery, we want to talk to you.

Based in Indianapolis, IN, we are part of a global leader in high-speed manufacturing machinery. We build the precision equipment that automotive and tire plants rely on every day. We are looking for a rugged, self-driven Field Service Technician who is ready to take ownership of machine installation, troubleshooting, and support worldwide.

Top Reasons to Work with Us

  • Big Overtime & Night Bonuses: Earn extra with 1.5x pay after 40 hours, double-time on Sundays/holidays, and cash bonuses for every night on the road.
  • All Expenses Paid: We cover all flights, hotels, and rental cars, plus solid daily meal per diems.
  • Travel & Shop Variety: Travel about 80% of the time, and work right alongside our shop floor team building gear when you're home.
  • Solid Benefits: Enjoy a 401(k) with a 3% company match and a strong HSA health plan.
  • Career Growth: We promote from within with a clear path up as leadership transitions over the coming years.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Travel globally: Hit the road or fly out for trips lasting 1 to 3 weeks.
  • Install equipment: Set up Kokusai machinery at customer manufacturing sites.
  • Troubleshoot systems: Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC
  • Build in-house: Help assemble, wire, pipe, and debug machines at our Indianapolis plant.
  • Work shutdowns: Tackle maintenance during plant holiday shutdowns (Thanksgiving, Christmas, 4th of July) for double-time pay.
  • Learn and develop: Read manuals and build your technical skills during slower in-office stretches.

What You Need to Bring

  • PLC knowledge: Solid, hands-on experience making actual programming changes in Allen-Bradley (Logix 5000 / Studio 5000) or Mitsubishi PLCs.
  • Electrical skills: Ability to read schematics, trace wiring, and work with relays, VFDs, and servo drives.
  • Mechanical aptitude: Experience using precision tools like dial indicators, torque wrenches, and precision levels.
  • Grit and work ethic: A self-starter who doesn't mind getting dirty, crawling under machinery, lifting up to 50 lbs, and putting in hard work.

Benefits

  • PTO
  • Per Diem
  • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance
  • 401k with 3% employer match
  • Double-time pay for holidays

For this position you must be currently authorized to work in the United States. We do not sponsor for this position.
