Heavy Equipment Technician

Job Description Job Description The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy machinery including construction, mining, agricultural, and general industrial equipment. Working within a medium-sized team, the technician operates both in workshop settings and on-site field locations. This role involves hands-on diagnostics and repair, ensuring operational efficiency and safety compliance while occasionally traveling to different work sites. Advancement opportunities include roles such as Equipment Specialist, Lead Technician, and Supervisor.

Responsibilities
Inspect heavy equipment for wear, damage, and operational issues
Perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs on construction, mining, agricultural, and industrial machinery
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system problems using diagnostic tools
Overhaul engines and replace faulty parts as needed
Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
Document maintenance and repair activities accurately
Test equipment functionality after repairs
Troubleshoot complex machinery issues efficiently
Perform welding and fabrication tasks as required

Required Qualifications
6+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance
3+ years field experience

Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Proficiency in diesel engine repair
Experience in hydraulic system maintenance
Electrical troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices
Welding skills and fabrication experience, is a plus
Familiarity with diagnostic tools
Strong understanding of safety standards compliance
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Effective communication abilities
