Job Summary
Compression Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of both electric and gas driven compressors, Central Delivery Point’s (CDP’s), and all QB Energy owned pipelines. Responsibilities include monitoring and controlling day-to-day facility operations and making operational changes, within guidelines, to optimize gas flow and promote safe work processes and procedures. A Compression Operator ensures all facilities are operated and maintained in compliance with all Company and applicable regulatory requirements, as well as maximizing upstream production.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain natural gas compressor stations and associated midstream equipment
- Operation and maintenance of natural gas compressors, dehydration equipment, CDP’s, pumps, separators and pipelines
- Must be able to utilize SCADA to monitor, troubleshoot, report and optimize operating conditions with assistance and training from other Gathering personnel.
- Responsible for reporting, trouble shooting and correcting abnormal operating conditions with oversight from the Compression Operator Foreman
- Have an understanding from monitoring equipment to make changes with approval of Compression Operator Foreman
- Monitor and adjust equipment to maintain optimum availability, efficiency and throughput
- Responsible for learning, operating and troubleshooting all QB Energy owned pipelines including pigging operations, pressure testing and chemical applications with assistance from senior personnel
- Report equipment and system malfunctions to Compression Operator Foreman to ensure that malfunctions are properly addressed in a timely manner
- Must be committed to working safely and being a good steward of the environment
Qualifications
License/Certification
- Valid driver’s license with MVR record acceptable by QB Energy’s insurance carrier
Industry Experience
- Two or more years of oil and gas field operations experience preferred, with midstream or gathering experience strongly preferred.
Specialized knowledge
- Ability to learn and understand P&ID’s, pipeline alignment documents and process flow diagrams
- Basic understanding of common midstream equipment including compressors, pumps and generators
- Ability to learn SCADA and control systems including Delta V, Allen Bradley, Cygnet and other types of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) operating systems
- CAT or Waukesha training courses a plus
- Must demonstrate a strong mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of oilfield equipment
Skills & Abilities
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills that translate to all levels of the organization
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, operational conditions, and business needs while maintaining a positive and solution-focused approach
- Must have a coachable mindset
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Basic computer skills, Word, Excel, MS Office, etc.
Compensation
Final level and offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise.

Work Conditions
Location:
This position is in Parachute, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position that operates in a field environment. The role requires flexibility to work weekends, nights, holidays, and handle callouts as needed. Employees must be able to work and drive in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, snow, and rain. Overtime may occasionally be required, resulting in extended work shifts. Individuals must possess the physical ability to safely handle the tools necessary to perform their duties. This position is subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.
Physical Demands:
In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to a minimum of 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
